Queens man in Saugerties catches 4 felony drug charges, 3 misdemeanors

On Tue., November 19, New York State Police arrested David D. King, 28, of Queens on seven counts of criminal drug and paraphernalia possession.

According to a police blotter publicly released today, King was allegedly in possession of a significant amount of methamphetamine, enough drug paraphernalia to suggest the intent to sell and more than 16 ounces of cannabis. The legality of marijuana in New York has its limits: Possession of more than 3 ounces or more than 24 grams of concentrate is a violation punishable by a fine of up to $125. Possession of over 16 ounces in weight (or over 5 ounces for concentrated cannabis), carries a potential $1,000 fine and a year in jail.

The full list of charges included:

  • Criminal Possession Controlled Substance – 2nd: Methamphetamine (Felony)
  • Criminal Possession Controlled Substance – 3rd: 1/8 oz Methamphetamine – Intent to Sell (Felony)
  • Criminal Possession Controlled Substance – 3rd: Narcotic Drug Intent to Sell (Felony)
  • Criminal Possession Controlled Substance – 4th: Narcotics (Felony)
  • Criminal Use Drug Paraphernalia – 2nd – Package (Misdemeanor)
  • Criminal Use Drug Paraphernalia – 2nd – Scales (Misdemeanor)
  • Criminal Possession Cannabis – 3rd – More than 16 Oz. Cannabis (Misdemeanor)

The most serious charge carries a mandatory minimum sentence of 3 years and up to 10 years in state prison, and a fine of up to $50,000 may be imposed.
