The 2024 Burning of Kingston is heating up with a full slate of immersive events that bring history to life through music, storytelling, and reenactments. Ulster County’s historic city will commemorate its Revolutionary War-era burning by the British, with highlights including battle reenactments, historical tours, a 5K run, and performances that shine a light on the lives of women, indigenous peoples, LGBTQ+ individuals, and enslaved African Americans. Special events at Saint James Church include “African American Voices,” featuring drumming, storytelling, and a film screening, followed by a grand chamber music concert with performances from Bard Conservatory musicians.
