Five recreational cannabis businesses registered in Ulster County were granted dispensary licenses by the New York State Office of Cannabis Management (OCM) last week, seeking to join the three already open in the county. Though they registered as businesses in Ulster County, the OCM license allows them to operate anywhere within the Mid-Hudson region, which includes Ulster, Columbia, Dutchess, Greene, Orange, Putnam and Westchester counties. Little is known about the businesses at this time, though the five named are Ellenville Cannabis LLC, Four Reds LLC, HM OPS LLC, Hurley Grown LLC and Kaddalack Jack LLC. The three Ulster County recreational dispensaries already open are Royal Blend in Rosendale, Big Gas Dispensary in a former Stewart’s Shop on North Chestnut Street, and most recently Etain Health, which just began selling recreational cannabis last week after operating as a strictly medical cannabis dispensary in 2016. Other recreational dispensaries previously granted licenses are working to open soon, including the Herbal Confectionery in the Village of New Paltz and both Sage Cannabis and the Joint, on opposite ends of the Town of Ulster.
