Born and raised in the Hudson Valley, Lee Kalpakis wears many hats: she began her career in food media, and dabbled in careers such as a recipe developer, cooking show host, culinary producer, food stylist, and private chef. Now the Culinary Director for the new bar-cafe-community space Camp Kingston, she can add author to the list, too. After living in a 22-foot long vintage camper in the Catskills for almost 2 years with her partner, she found herself creating a collection of functional, simple recipes that could be cooked over a fire or in a small space. To celebrate the release of the book, Out There: A Camper Cookbook, Kalpakis will offer a 3-course, family-style dinner featuring Hudson Valley grown ingredients over the fire at AutoCamp in Saugerties using recipes taken from the pages of her book.
