Jade Bird at Levon Helm Studios

Jade Bird understands the beauty of simplicity. With just herself and her guitar, the singer-songwriter returns to the Hudson Valley for her Open Up The Songbook Tour at Levon Helm Studios in Woodstock on Thursday. Bird gained notoriety after her 2018 single “Lottery” reached number one on Billboard’s Adult Alternative Songs chart at only 19 years old. Bird’s cathartic and commanding voice captured the attention of indie icons like Hozier, Father John Misty, and Brandi Carlile–and she ended up opening for all of them. Pitchfork declared her voice “powerful,” “gigantic,” and “self-assured,” and she was quickly added to Rolling Stone’s Artist to Watch list. Although she grew up in the UK, she established roots in the Hudson Valley when she recorded her debut album five years ago throughout Palenville, Rhinebeck and Boiceville with Simone Felice of the Felice Brothers (also a producer for the Lumineers). Radio Woodstock was her first radio show ever. Last month, Bird released new music for the first time in years: a vulnerable EP titled “Burn The Hard Drive.” She sounds better than ever. With support from Brooklyn-based artist Anais & The Hoops, don’t miss Bird performing in the barn before she is playing arenas.
