Weed has been legal in New York for just over three years. Black market retailers still outnumber the legal dispensaries at least twenty to one – court cases, NIMBYs and elected officials continue to stymie legit dispensaries. But there’s still plenty to celebrate – like the freedom to spark a J at your favorite pot-friendly venue (or at least around the corner). Here are our picks for hot pot spots this smokin’ Saturday:
- Brothers Choice at Keegan Ales in Kingston, 8pm. A loud and fun blend of funk, rock, blues and soul from a band that’s so tight and talented you won’t even realize how baked they are.
- 4/20 Blowout at Tubby’s in Kingston, 7pm. A musical variety show featuring an all-star Steely Dan tribute, Mark Shue (Guided by Voices), Drew playing Dead tapes, and other stoney treats, ending with a Cubmia-centric dance party.
- Peter Tosh Day 420 ft. Dis-N-Dat at Colony in Woodstock, 6pm. Featuring the drummer from Black Uhuru, enjoy live roots reggae, dance hall, R&B, and traditional sounds from Jamaica and Trinidad.
- 4/20 Interference at Avalon Lounge in Catskill, 4:20pm. Classic lineup of local rock bands that embrace the sweet leaf, including Phantom Sleeze, Dark Hippie, Grampfather, Fallen Youth, AM Gold and Of the Atlas.
- 4/20 Party at Westkill Supply in Kingston. Details are scarce but Westkill always comes through with great microbrews, music and eats.
