Don’t flush this opportunity away: SUNY New Paltz is making a splash with Urinetown: The Musical, starting this Friday and flowing through until Sunday, April 21st. Imagine a Gotham-like city grappling with a crippling water shortage, where private toilets are a thing of the past, and citizens are at the mercy of pay-per-use facilities controlled by the iron-fisted Caldwell B. Cladwell. With a score by Mark Hollmann and a book by Greg Kotis, this show promises to be a whirlpool of drama, humor, and social commentary. Directed by Catherine Doherty, with music direction by Brittany Proia and choreography by Sumire Muratsu, it’s a fun production that’s sure to stir the waters of musical theater.
