March O’ the Faeries welcomes spring

There was a touch of magic in the air in uptown Kingston on Saturday, March 16.  Faeries welcomed spring this year a few days early with the March O’ the Faeries at the Old Dutch Church on Wall Street. This event was sponsored by Circle Creative Collective of New Paltz and the Society for Creative Anachronism.

There were workshops for children and adults to make wings, wands and crowns, beautiful and detailed handmade fairy houses were on display and there was storytelling, music and food. Attendees were encouraged to arrive in costume and each child received a special fairy bracelet from the Fairy Queen herself, who led the march around the church for the finale.

This was the first year of the event, and it was a big hit among the more than 100 people who attended. As people left the church, you could feel and see the magic!
