Jeffrey Fuller of the Hudson Valley Water Company continues to be in hot water. In even more trouble with the NYS Public Service Commission after lead was recently discovered in the water at one of his West Hurley subsidiaries and his Boiceville company was again under a boil-water notice because of a power outage, he requested a 30-day extension to comply with a PSC order to show cause why his firm should not be replaced by a temporary operator.
He had been out of the country, he said, and “not had the ability to become fully aware of the circumstances or to attempt to prepare the required response.”
He didn’t get what he asked for. Responding on February 28. PSC staff did not find his excuse persuasive, “particularly, where, as here, the order outlines a lengthy timeline of complaints and an extended history of alleged water-quality and service issues.”
Said Ulster County executive Jen Metzger a day later, “Fuller’s rationale that he has been out of the country is an excuse akin to ‘the dog ate my homework.’ ”
