A blaze caused significant damage to a Zena home and injured four firefighters this week. Due to extreme workload and high heat conditions, fire chief Patrick Rose said, four firefighters were treated for minor burns and underwent medical evaluations by fire department EMTs. None needed transport to the hospital.
The Woodstock Fire Department responded at 2:20 p.m. on Tuesday, January 30 to a structure fire at 40 Lauren Court.
Upon arrival, firefighters found heavy smoke and fire coming from the 4500-square-foot home, according to chief Rose. A second alarm brought in additional firefighters, who spent several hours at the scene.
A cat was rescued from the home.
The cause of the fire  is being investigated by the county fire investigation division.
The conflagration was the second Woodstock two-alarm blaze in less than 24 hours. The previous day, firefighters battled a barn fire on Sickler Road.
The Woodstock Fire Department was assisted by the Kingston, West Hurley, Centerville, Olive, Mount Marion and Sawkill fire departments, the Woodstock police, the county sheriff’s office and emergency services and Central Hudson.
