To the casual ear, Steely Dan might sound like a band for middle-aged lounge lizards. But give them a closer listen, and you might find yourself dazzled by their musicianship, originality, complex songwriting, meticulous production quality, sophisticated lyrics and undeniable groove.
Chasing those musical heights, respected local drummer Jerry Marotta (who played with Peter Gabriel and collaborated with big names like Paul McCartney, Hall & Oates and Indigo Girls) assembled a dream team of area musicians to pay tribute. The outfit he leads, Reelin’ in the Years, quickly became one of the most sought-after acts in the flourishing tribute band scene. WIth no less than nine world-class members, the group is known throughout the East Coast as preeminent among Steely Dan simulacra.
