The musical legacy of the late, great Karl Berger is being kept vibrantly alive. The Creative Music Studio (CMS), co-founded by Berger, Ornette Coleman, and Ingrid Sertso in 1971, once faced an uncertain future. However, defying all odds, the CMS Improvisers Orchestra now flourishes anew in Kingston and New York City.
This rebirth is a testament to the enduring spirit of Berger’s vision and the dedication of the music community. In Kingston, the Orchestra finds a home in an artistic space crafted by Bill Horberg, a Woodstock-based musician and the acclaimed producer behind Queen’s Gambit.
This performance features CMS founder Sertso alongside twenty-one talented musicians on a kaleidoscopic array of instruments.
