The Saugerties American Legion Lamouree Hackett Post 72 says it raised the most money ever from passing motorists in its recent helmet-drop program held on September 12.
Village Board Trustee Vincent Buono, who is a member of the American Legion, said the Post preferred to not share exactly how much money they raised, stating simply that the recent fundraiser was extremely successful.
“The members of American Legion Lamouree Hackett Post 72 wish to thank the Saugerties community for their generosity on Sunday, September 12, 2021 during our annual helmet-drop fundraiser,” Post Commander Ray Teitter said in an emailed statement. “The money received is vitally important and is used for veteran services, community support and maintenance of our facility located at 30 John Street in the Village of Saugerties. Again, thank you and God Bless the Saugerties community.”
