Should Saugerties’ Montross Street be one-way?

The Saugerties Village Board will decide in the near future if Montross Street should become a one-way street. “The mayor called me last week; there was a concerned citizen on Montross Street and they were discussing turning Montross Street into a one-way,”trustee Donald Hackett said at the Saugerties Village Board meeting on Monday, April 5. “We did McDonald [Street] a few years back. Parking has also been a problem on Montross Street. There’s a lot going on down at this end, the south side, so we need to discuss that, later on.”  Hackett was not suggesting the board take any action at this meeting, but traffic in the area will need to be addressed in the near future, he said.
