Town of New Paltz voters approved the collection of a real-estate transfer tax in November with the money to be used to support a community preservation plan. At its January 7 meeting, the town board named seven people to the preservation advisory board, as required in that law. Only seven applications were received, and all were appointed to staggered terms, such that one member’s term will expire each year.
Jim DeLaune, Michael Domitrovits, Peter Ferrante, John Gotto, Ingrid Haeckel, Cara Lee and John Orfitelli will be the charter members, and Lee will be the first to chair the board. Board members will vet project proposals and make recommendations as to which should be funded.
