Village of New Paltz residents can have their say on how Airbnb-style rentals should be regulated on November 18.
After making some final edits on the fly during their October 28 meeting, village trustees pronounced the bill ready for review by residents. The law would impose inspection and registration requirements similar to those for any rental property, and limit short-term rentals in residential districts to buildings in which the owner is a resident.Â
Much of the final discussion was about how to prove residency. The village board decided to give some examples (voter registration and utility bill), but will let the building inspector make the final call.
