Two Saugerties residents are facing felony drug counts after being charged, the Ulster Regional Gang Enforcement Narcotics Team alleges, with selling cocaine “at local social establishments” in Woodstock and Saugerties.
According to sheriff’s deputies, Cornell T. Wise, 41, and Ashlee R. Petruski, 27, were taken into custody on March 13 after a “buy-bust” operation in Saugerties.
Deputies said searches at two homes in Saugerties connected with the case turned up “a large amount of cocaine” plus scales and packaging material. At one of the homes, deputies said a loaded firearm with the serial number defaced was found.
Both Wise and Petruski were charged with third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a felony. Wise was also charged with second-degree criminal possession of a weapon and two counts of third-degree criminal possession of a firearm.
Deputies said Wise, following arraignment in Saugerties Town Court, was sent to Ulster County Jail on $25,000 cash bail or a $50,000 bond and noted a probation violation allegation is pending for him. Petruski was released with an appearance ticket for court.
