In support of the Poughkeepsie Library’s Big Read, the Bardavon and the Hudson Valley Philharmonic (HVP) present music from the Silk Road on Saturday, November 17. This year, the Poughkeepsie Library’s Big Read centers on Celeste Ng’s Everything I Never Told You. This concert will feature classical music with Asian influences: Stravinsky’s Nightingale and Bartok’s Mandarin, plus students from Stringendo playing side-by-side with the HVP. Silk Road Ensemble clarinetist and composer Kinan Azmeh will perform in his own Suite for Improvisor and Orchestra. The audience is invited to a pre-show talk with Azmeh one hour before the performance. Tickets cost $20 to $57, based on location.
