Parents, students and community members are invited to meet the new principal in the outdoor pavilion of the Lenape Elementary School in New Paltz next Monday, August 21 at 5 p.m. Dr. Tarkan Ceng, who previously served as a principal in the Carmel school district, will be welcomed at this meet-and-greet event. His previous experience includes working as a principal and universal pre-kindergarten program director in Beacon, an assistant principal in Wappingers and a teacher in Middletown. His family immigrated from Turkey. He holds a doctorate of education in educational leadership from the Sage Colleges.
Dr. Ceng has been married for 17 years and enjoys riding motorcycles and hiking. He began his new job last Wednesday. “From what I understand, this is a well-performing school and district,” he said. “I’m looking forward to getting to know the community and learning how my knowledge and skills can further enhance the great things going on here. There are wonderful opportunities for kids and I’m excited to be a part of it.”
