Police arrested a Kerhonkson man following an investigation into the robbery of Dollar General on Foxhall Ave. in Kingston on Sunday and Shell Gas Station at the intersection of Main St. and South Ohioville Rd. in New Paltz on Monday.
Brian Avery, 42, was charged with two counts of second-degree robbery. Police located him at a motel on Rt. 28 using a description of the car used in the robberies.
According to police reports, the suspect entered Dollar General Sunday night around 9 p.m., displayed “what appeared to be a dark colored hand gun,” and demanded the contents of the cash register and clerk’s wallet. The Monday robbery occurred around 8 p.m. was described as “similar.”
Avery is currently being held in city lockup pending arraignment in Kingston City Court.
