More than 300 spectators saw Kingston Stockade FC administer a 5-1 drubbing to Kew Forest in a friendly (exhibition) match at Dietz Stadium on Saturday, April 16.
Kew Forest scored the first goal just shy of three minutes into the contest. The rest of the evening’s goals were Stockade FC’s. The home team equalized things at the 18-minute mark. Three more goals were scored before halftime.
The second half saw Kew Forest, a team hailing from Queens, stiffen defensively – the sides battled back and forth with no scores until Stockade FC got another into the back of the net. Nick vonEgypt had two of the team’s goals. Eric Fortier, Michael Creswick and Aldo Tropeano also scored for Stockade FC in the team’s first-ever win.
Stockade FC officially opens the season with an away match against Greater Lowell United FC at Cawley Stadium in Lowell, Mass. on Sunday, May 8. Five days later they’ll play the Brooklyn Italians at the LIU Brooklyn Athletic Complex on Friday, May 13.
The club’s first home game will see Stockade FC host Rhode Island Reds FC on Saturday, May 21 at 2 p.m., with Greater Lowell United FC in town for a rematch on Sunday, May 22 at 4 p.m.
