
Shannon Averill has been named valedictorian and Meghan Creen salutatorian of the Saugerties Senior High School Class of 2014.
Shannon and Meghan will be the featured speakers at the 118th commencement ceremony to be held Saturday, June 28 at 10 a.m. at the high school.
Shannon is the daughter of Thomas and Catherine Averill. Shannon’s four-year cumulative academic average is 101.055. Her involvement in extra-curricular activities throughout high school includes National Honor Society (vice president), Key Club (president), student government, St. John’s Catholic Youth Group (president) and the Subzero Heroes for Alzheimer’s Disease with the New Visions Program. Shannon’s involvement in interscholastic sports have included soccer (captain), basketball (captain), track (captain) and KASL Premier Soccer.
Shannon will be attending Monmouth University. She will major in nursing.
Meghan is the daughter of William and Linda Creen. Meghan’s four-year academic average is 100.762. Her involvement in extra-curricular and interscholastic activities throughout high school includes Key Club, National Honor Society, Spanish Club, student government, Chess Club, Lip Sync Dream Team, yearbook, senior high musical, Booster Club, varsity girls’ tennis and varsity track and field.
Meghan is planning on attending the University at Buffalo. She will major in biomedical engineering with a minor in Spanish.
