Police are seeking help from the public in solving two bank robberies from earlier this year: Key Bank in Saugerties in January and Chase Bank in New Paltz in April.

Detectives believe the same man committed both crimes.

The suspect is between 5’8” – 6’, in his mid- to late-40s, bald or balding and slimmer than depicted in photos.

Anyone with information is asked to contact either the Saugerties Police Department Detective Division at (845) 246-9800 or New Paltz Police Department Detective Division at (845) 255-1357.

What happened

On Jan. 11, 2013 at about 11:45 a.m., a white male, wearing blue jeans, light colored over-shirt and knit cap and brown boots, entered Key Bank on 258 Main St., displayed a note indicating he was in possession of a firearm and exited with cash.

On April 2, 2013 at about 11:23 a.m. at Chase Bank, 2 Plattekill Ave., New Paltz, a white male, wearing blue jeans, maroon over-shirt, brown boots, cap, sunglasses and what appears to be a wig, entered the bank, displayed a note indicating he was in possession of a firearm and exited with cash.
