Mayone has experience and character
I would like to recommend to the voters of Saugerties to cast their vote for Ray Mayone for highway superintendent. Nov. 5 is quickly approaching. So, please let me tell you why Ray gets my vote. To be the highway superintendent you need to possess many qualities. Obviously, Raymond’s background of owning and operating his own construction business for over 30 years is a valuable asset. When a person owns their own business that is successful it proves their competence in handling day-to-day operations. Naturally, this entails scheduling, budgeting, completion of work in a timely and efficient manner. It involves complete and total dedication. I believe that with Raymond’s strong presence as superintendent, the Highway Department will flourish. He has excellent leadership skills and is a very approachable man. Ray Mayone’s integrity and work ethic are beyond reproach. Please join with me in getting this done on Nov. 5. Vote for Ray Mayone for highway superintendent.

On the road again
Thank you to the League of Women Voters for hosting a successful candidates forum. It was nice to see such a great turnout of Saugerties residents.
I want to clarify a few points that may have gotten misconstrued by my opponent. First, as defined in the Merriam-Webster Dictionary, a budget is, “the amount of money that is available for, required for, or assigned to a particular purpose.” I have maintained a multi-million dollar budget during the construction of Bishop’s Gate which is the largest subdivision to come to our town in many years. This budget includes but was not limited to such line items as manual hours, materials for the infrastructure construction, engineering and permits, environmental studies, just to name a few. My opponent would lead you to believe that this was irrelevant in comparison to the Highway Department budget. Quite the opposite. With that being said, private and public budgets are one in the same, money is money.
There are several town roads that desperately need major work. For example: Dave Elliot, VanVlierden, Valk, and Schoolhouse roads. to name a few. The taxpayers deserve to see their hard-earned tax dollars put to better use other than purchasing three brand new pieces of equipment within a year’s time. Although, new equipment is nice, it’s not always necessary. I plan to do more in-house repairs; small or large. Furthermore, taxpayer money needs to be spent on our roads and not on computer maintenance. I reference our 2013 highway budget where $48,725 was spent on the line item of computer maintenance for which only $1,000 was allocated. If elected, Jan. 1, I plan to remove the TVs out of the superintendent’s and assistant superintendent’s offices. I want to switch the focus of the Highway Department out of the office and back on the roads.

You can trust Ray Mayone
Twenty-eight years ago we gained another “son” in our life. Our daughter married Ray Mayone. Therefore, it gives us great pride to recommend Ray Mayone for our highway superintendent. We trusted Raymond 28 years ago with one of our greatest treasures; surely you can trust in him to be our highway superintendent. Raymond is an honest and true man. He is a loving father and husband.
Being retired from Local 825, I can attest to Raymond’s construction expertise. I have been around construction all my life. Our son-in-law knows what he is doing. He has always handled himself professionally and always treated his customers with the utmost respect. Also, we grew up in an era of hard work. So, we admire Raymond’s work ethics. He is a hard worker!
So, take it from a couple of old-fashioned people. Our town needs a highway superintendent who is going to be honest. We need a man who has the experience and enthusiasm to work hard. Saugerties voters, join in with us and do this town a favor and vote for Ray Mayone for highway superintendent.

Walter has integrity
I am writing in support of Lanny Walter for Saugerties Town Justice. In working closely with him on past election campaigns, I have firsthand knowledge of Lanny’s dedication to candidates he believes share his compassion and concern for the citizens of our town, our county, our state, and our nation. Also, I am voting for him because, like Claudia Andreassen, Lanny knocked on my door and asked for my vote. To me that shows his desire to know his neighbors and to serve us justly with integrity.
