The 34 wooden lighthouses that will grace Saugerties streets this summer went on display recently Saugerties Performing Arts Factory on Ulster Ave.
The models, constructed by Gus Pedersen and painted by local artists, are being placed on the village streets this week, said Chamber of Commerce president Mark Smith. In addition to the 34 wooden models, one metal entry, Timeless Mechanics, was submitted by Alex Kveton, who said his model was closely based on the wooden blanks the others worked with.
The lighthouses will be auctioned off on September 21, following a viewing and gala beginning at 5 p.m. at the Kiersted House. Tickets, $20 each, may be purchased at Café Mezzaluna, Lucky Chocolates, Rock Star Rodeo and Town and Country Liquors. The proceeds will be divided between charity, the Chamber and artists.
