The Phillies Bridge Farm Project will honor its honorary trustee Helen Vukasin at its all-local cookout and silent auction on Saturday, Sept. 29 from noon to 4 p.m. Vukasin is one of the farm’s co-founders and served as its director, on a volunteer basis, for its first five years as an education-focused CSA farm from 1995 to 1999. She will celebrate her 90th birthday in October. In recognition of this milestone, and of Vukasin’s many years of service to the farm, a dedication plaque will be unveiled near a tree previously planted in her honor. The unveiling and dedication remarks will take place at approximately 2 p.m. at the farm’s outdoor pavilion. Musical acts will proceed and follow the dedication. Food will be served (reservations recommended) and auction bidding will take place throughout the afternoon event.
At the all-local cookout, guests will enjoy fresh, local food right off the grill, prepared and served by chefs and students from the Culinary Institute of America. Live music will be performed by The Shoe String Band and Phillies Bridge Farm’s own all-apprentice band, Baa Ram Ewe. The event will also feature a silent auction, offering for bid goods and services from over 50 local businesses, benefiting Phillies Bridge’s educational and outreach programs and Slow Food’s advocacy efforts.
The farm is located at 45 Phillies Bridge Road in New Paltz. Guests may reserve tickets online at https://philliesbridge.org/. Reservations are strongly recommended.
