The Saugerties High School graduating class of 2012 has named Katharine Greco as valedictorian and Alexa Abrams as salutatorian. They will be featured speakers at the 116th commencement ceremony to be held at the high school on Saturday, June 23 at 10 a.m.
Katharine Greco (left) is the daughter of John and Lisa Greco. Her four-year academic average is 101.196, and her extracurricular and interscholastic activities includes Key Club, National Honor Society, Chess Club, Eco Club, and senior class play. She has participated in scholastic and club volleyball and travel basketball, played the trumpet in the school band, and participated in the all-county band every year. She is choosing between UMass Amherst and Worcester Polytechnic Institute to further her education, and plans to major in chemical engineering and earn a PhD.
Alexa Abrams (right) is the daughter of Bruce and Sharon Abrams. Her four-year academic average is 100.033, and her extracurricular and interscholastic activities in high school includes Key Club, National Honor Society, and the book club. She has participated in the choir, all-county choir, and area all-state choir. She will attend Marist College and plans to earn a bachelor’s degree in fashion merchandising and a master’s degree in business.
