New Paltz Superintendent Maria Rice and Assistant Superintendent for Business Richard Linden will present preliminary three-level tax levy threshold 2012-2013 conceptual budgets to the Board of Education at its next meeting on Feb. 1. The meeting will take place at New Paltz High School at 7 p.m. The public is invited to attend.

The budgets being presented are based on the Governor’s proposed budget and what is presently known in regard to the 2% tax levy threshold formula. The Feb. 15 budget presentation will also be based on the Governor’s proposal. The board is seeking input from the community on the preliminary budget at a forum scheduled for March 7 in the high school auditorium. The adoption of the budget is scheduled for April 11 with a public hearing on May 2.

Presentations of the proposed budget will take place on the following dates at the high school: Feb. 15, 7 p.m., budget presentation; March 7, 7 p.m., community forum on the budget; March 21, 7 p.m., budget presentation; April 11, 7 p.m., adoption of the final budget; May 2, 7 p.m., public hearing on the budget.

The election/budget vote will be held on Tuesday, May 15 from noon to 9 p.m.
