COTA, Celebration of The Arts, will be held this year on Saturday, Oct. 8 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Historic Huguenot Street in New Paltz. COTA is a platform where the arts and community intersect. Enjoy a day full of live music and entertainment, from The Trapps to a variety of dance and theater performances. Listen to author and poet readings, including local favorites Alice Andrews and Susannah Appelbaum, to New York City novelist Robert Dunn. Take a free sample dance class. Let the kids craft a book or paint a mural and buy art directly from COTA artists.

Once again, the festivities will begin with COTA Corridors. Now in its fourth year, COTA Corridors pairs artists with shops to create site-specific installations in their display windows for approximately one month beginning in September. A published map of all participating businesses and artists will help direct visitors to the various locations of the project.

On Thursday, Oct. 6 at 7:30 p.m., gather around the lovely ladies of BRAWL (Broad’s Regional Arm Wrestling League) at Water Street Market and help kick-off COTA’s weekend festivities. BRAWL will be tearing it up to raise funds for local women’s charities and to get everyone charged for the weekend ahead!

On Friday, Oct. 7, visit Snug Harbor to groove to the sounds of Setting Sun and special guests all to benefit the COTA Artists Stipend Fund, a new component being added to COTA. The fund will be made available for artists to realize site-specific projects for COTA in 2012.

On Saturday, Oct. 8 bring your piggy banks full of quarters, because a select group of COTA artists are building games for you and yours to play, also to benefit the COTA Artists Stipend. The games will be geared for kids of all ages, from adult to wee ones.
