147th Kentucky Derby: Top Horses in the Current Ranking

The Kentucky Derby 2021 is fast approaching, and some of the most spectacular contenders are slowing down. Bob Baffert’s prodigy colt, Life Is Good, was scheduled for a time off due to an injury during a workout in Santa Anita Park last month. Simultaneously, Shug McGaughey-trained Greatest Honour is now on a 60-day training period.

For the horse contenders’ updated standings, check out the 147th Kentucky Derby leaderboard as of 12 April right here.

Essential Quality

The unbeatable Essential Quality remains at the top of the leaderboard, ranking first. This Brad H. Cox-trained colt has gained $2,210,000 non-restricted stakes earnings with 140 points in total. In the 2021 Kentucky Derby Future Wager Pool 5, the horse got the odds of 4-1.

Cox is doing his job to maintain the colt’s impressive performance since its debut race. He has been first place in all of his matches, including Breeders’ Futurity, Breeders’ Cup Juvenile, Southwest Stakes, and the recent Blue Grass Stakes. Even if he gets matched with other top horses, he still manages to be number one.

Many bettors are backing this guy because of his excellent performance and skills. You may visit TVG to know where to bet on the Kentucky Derby.

Hot Rod Charlie

Another amazing colt, Hot Rod Charlie, ended up second on the leaderboard. He has $962,000 in non-restricted stakes earnings as his total points go up to 110. He acquired 12-1 odds during the Pool 5 Final Odds of the Future Wager.

In his career, he has been consistent with his performance. He placed second during the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile, the exact match that declared Essential Quality as the winner, third place in Robert B. Lewis Stakes, and finally first place in the Louisiana Derby during his race last month.

Super Stock

Super Stock may have started in the track with a less than impressive performance, but he is now in third place for the Kentucky Derby 2021 leaderboard. He got $709,000 non-restrictive stakes earnings and a total close point of 109.

Last 10 April, he finally got his win in the Arkansas Derby against other known horses such as the second placer Caddo River and the third placer Concert Tour. This was eight months since his last win in the TTA Sales Futurity Stakes. This made the colt climb up in the ranking after placing third in Iroquois Stakes, third in Breeders’ Futurity, second in Street Sense, and fourth in the Rebel Stakes.

Like The King

From Like The King’s consistent performance, he is now in fourth place. With non-restrictive stakes earnings of $161,300 and 104 total points, this colt has the potential to be a contender for this year’s Derby.

Since last year, he has always been part of the top three, which shows good performance. In February of 2021, he placed second in the John Battaglia Memorial. He also won his previous race- the Jeff Ruby Steaks- held last March.

Known Agenda

Landing fifth place on the leaderboard is the Known Agenda. With $461,100 non-restrictive stakes earnings and 102 total points, the colt indeed has what it takes to be a contender for the 147th run of the Kentucky Derby.

His records state that he still has more to show in future races. He started with third place in Remsen Stakes last December, fifth in Sam F. Davis Stakes last February, and finally won the Florida Derby, held just last month. You may want to keep an eye on him in future matches and back him up.

Rock Your World

Another probable colt for the 2021 Kentucky Derby is Rock Your World. He accumulated $510,000 non-restricted stakes earnings with total points of 100. In the Kentucky Derby Future Wager Pool 5, the colt acquired the odds of 31-1. Now, he’s in sixth place.

Rock Your World now has two wins on the turf, but his main track debut was a remarkable victory for him. He placed first in the Santa Anita Derby during May’s first week against the second Medina Spirit and the third Dream Shake. This match blocked the veteran Bob Baffert’s 10th win in the West Coast prep.

Bourbonic

The rising 72-1 longshot horse contender Bourbonic is now at the top seven in the current standing. He collected $400,000 non-restrictive stakes earnings so far, with the same total points as Rock Your World, 100.

Bourbonic successfully achieved the victory right away on his debut on the main track. During the Wood Memorial Stakes last 3 April, the Todd A. Pletcher-trained colt placed first, followed by Dynamic One and Crowded Trade. Let’s all watch his performance during the upcoming Derby.
