Valerie Denehy, 83, of Willow, New York, passed away peacefully on July 25th, surrounded by her extended family. She was pre-deceased by her husband, Peter Denehy in 2017. Born in Grand Rapids, Michigan, on November 15, 1934, she was the daughter of James and Lucille Lowing. Beloved mother, grandmother, sister and friend, Valerie was an amazing woman who brought style and grace to all that she set her hand to. An artist at heart, she attended Pratt University, over the course of her career she worked as an interior designer, a buyer for Macy’s and most recently as a real estate agent at Ruth Gale Realty in Phoenicia. She had a passion for creating pottery and was a longtime student at the Byrdcliff Ceramics Studio. Valerie is survived by her children, Andrea Singer, Peter Gordon, Melissa Swain, Christina Denehy, Deirdre Denehy, her niece Cynnie Boyer, her siblings, James Lowing, Michael Lowing and Patricia Ernest, eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
A celebration of Valerie’s life gathering will be held on Saturday, September 22nd at the Mountain View Studio in Woodstock, NY at 2pm. Friends are welcome to join the family to share stories and remembrances of a woman who touched many during her lifetime.
