Robert A. Feld passed away on August 10, 2024. People often ask what happens to us when we die. Bob is one who demonstrates that the answer is: the people who love us will miss us.
He was born on April 11, 1945, and spent his early years in New Jersey before attending Dickinson College in Pennsylvania. Bob was drafted into the United States Army and did a tour in Vietnam during the war there. He had great empathy and respect for the people of that country. After his stint in the army, Bob chose a career in teaching and spent the majority of his career teaching in the New Paltz Middle School in New Paltz, New York. Bob was very popular with both the students and staff. Often students would come back, even after graduating college, to say that he was the best English teacher they had ever had. He could also relate to the students on a personal level and was always there for them when they needed someone to talk to. His incredible wit and great sense of humor were much appreciated by his fellow teachers as well.
Bob’s outside interests were hiking, woodworking, and playing a number of musical instruments, but to him the most important thing was his wife, Kathleen, who describes him as the best thing that ever happened in her life. Bob will indeed be greatly missed, and he’ll remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. In addition to his wife, Bob is survived by several nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held for Bob at the Copeland-Hammerl Funeral Home located at 162 S. Putt Corners Road in New Paltz on Wednesday August 21st 2024 from 2:00pm-4:00pm.
In lieu of flowers the family asks donations be made to the SPCA or a charity close to your heart.
