Lindley O. Gould Jr.

Lindley O. Gould Jr, a former long-time resident of Saugerties, NY passed away Monday, June 24, in Agawam, Massachusetts, two days shy of his 91st birthday. Born and raised in Middletown, NY, he was the only child of the late Lindley O. Gould Sr. and Blanche Ann (Wood) Gould.

“Lin” as he was fondly known, started his work career in GE in Schenectady, NY where he learned to be a draftsman. In the 1950’s he left GE and went to work at Channel Master in Ellenville, NY. During that time, he was drafted into the Army. He served stateside for two years and was almost deployed to fight in the Korean War when an armistice was reached. After being honorably discharged, he returned to work at Channel Master, where he met his beloved wife Eleanor “Ezzie” Weaver. Lin later worked many years for the fan company Rotron as a draftsman, UL regulatory specialist, and salesman.

For most of his life, Lin lived a life of service. For over 50 years he was an active member of the Glasco Fire Company as a firefighter, Vice President, Commissioner, Fire Police and Chaplin. Lin served on the Saugerties and Diaz Ambulance services and the Woodstock Ambulance Service which was stationed at the Woodstock Rotron manufacturing plant during the day. He was also a certified American Red Cross First Aid, Advanced Medical, and CPR instructor. Much later in life he became the full-time caretaker of his wife after she suffered a major hemorrhagic stroke.

Lin and Ezzie were long-time members of the Reformed Church of Saugerties, where he taught Sunday School, and served as Assistant Superintendent for the Sunday school. He also served as an Elder and Deacon on consistory for many years. In the 1970’s Lin helped to establish the popular Reformed Church Coffee House.

Lin was predeceased by his beloved wife of 62 years “Ezzie” in 2018. He is survived by a son Russell Gould of Webster FL, and his wife Donna, a daughter Tracey Sommers of Tolland CT, and her husband Tim, and grandchildren Matt, Malena and Aleeya. 

Further arrangements will be announced by the Seamon-Wilsey Funeral Home Inc., Saugerties. An interment will be held in Hudler Cemetery, Mt. Tremper NY. Expressions of condolence may be shared with the family on Lindley’s Tribute Wall at SeamonWilseyFuneralHome.
