Florence Louise Weston, favorably known as Weezie, left this earth on July 11, one day after her 96th birthday. She was preceded in death by William (known to all as Bill), her high school sweetheart and husband of 70 years. Also preceded her in death were her parents Marshall and Bertha Van Alst, her siblings Charles, Helen, and Doris.
Her children include Stephanie Morris of Overland Park, KS, Glenn Weston of Salisbury Mills, NY, Debra McCurdy of North Falmouth, MA, and Leslie Weston of Wilmington, NC.
Weezie was born in her family’s farm house on Huguenot Street. She attended the Campus School and New Paltz High School. She also attended Russell Sage College.
Weezie owned Weston’s Country Casuals. She was an avid knitter, quilter, and reader. She enjoyed tennis and golf. She and Bill also enjoyed traveling throughout the United States, Canada, and Europe. Throughout their married years, Weezie and Bill lived in NY, VA, NC, SC, and KS. Eventually, Weezie returned to her hometown,New Paltz, NY. She spent her last years enjoying life at Woodland Pond.
Weezie was a joy to be around and a blessing to everyone she met. Her wit and generosity were enjoyed by many including family, friends and the community at Woodland Pond. She will be greatly missed by her four children, 11 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
