Elsie Marie Shultis, 95, passed away peacefully on May 10, 2024.
Elsie was born on August 6, 1928 in Woodstock, to DeWitt and Nellie Shultis. She graduated from Kingston High School. Elsie was a life-long resident of Bearsville. She married the love of her life, Roger Shultis on Sept 19, 1948 at her home in Woodstock. They met in grade school and had been a couple since the eighth grade. They shared 74 wonderful years of marriage until Rogers’ passing in April 2022. Elsie was a devoted mother to her two children and a homemaker.
Elsie spent her free time exploring her many artistic talents. They included sewing, crocheting afghan blankets for family members and as baby gifts. She loved flower arranging as well. She also was a weaver and wove blankets from the sheep’s wool from the sheep Roger raised, as well as placemats, pillows, and other useful items for her house.
She was a long-time member of the Woodstock Dutch Reformed Church, where she prepared all the after-church coffee hours. For many years she was the volunteer cook for the Meals on Wheels program in Woodstock. She was one of the original organizers who brought this much needed service to the elderly and homebound in the Woodstock area. Elsie always enjoyed cooking for her family and others.
In 2017, she and her husband moved to New Hampshire to be closer to their daughter, grandchildren, and great-grandsons. She loved spending time with her family, and they loved having fun times with their Grammy and Great Grammy!
She is survived by her daughter, Faye Tresvik, of NH; a grandson, Justin Tresvik and his wife Kristen, of MA; a granddaughter, Laura Larner and her husband Seth, of MA; two great grandsons, Wyatt and Colby Larner; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roger, in 2022 and her son, Lonnie, in 1974.
The family plans to celebrate the life of Elsie at a later date. Memorial gifts may be made to the Woodstock Dutch Reformed Church. You may share a special memory, photo, or condolence with the family on Elsie’s Tribute Wall at www.gormleyfuneralhome.com Memorial arrangements are under the direction of the E. B.
