Doris V. Myers, passed away peacefully on March 25, 2025, at TenBroeck Commons Nursing Home. Born on September 18, 1928, in Hoboken, NJ, Doris was the loving daughter of the late Frederick and Katherine Keller. Her life was a testament to the power of love, service, and education, which she shared generously with her family and the community she adored.
Doris’s life was rich with the joy of family. She is survived by her devoted daughters, Cindy (Les) Rice of W. Hurley, Elaine Sager of Red Hook; and her son, Ronald (Maggie) Myers of Saugerties. Her six grandchildren: Amanda (Santo) Harris, Kelsey (Dan) Schroedl, TJ (Amanda) Sager, Ryan (Jaclyn) Sager, Viola Myers and Reid K. Myers. Five great grandchildren: Zoe, Gia, Chase, Harrison and Sophie who were the light of her life. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Doris was predeceased by her loving husband, Alvin, her sister, Louise McMonegal and son-in-law Tony Sager.
For many years, Doris served as a Teacher’s Aide at Cahill Elementary and Saugerties High School, where she touched the lives of countless students with her patience and wisdom. Her dedication to education and the well-being of children was evident in every classroom she entered and every life she influenced.
Beyond her work in education, Doris was deeply involved in her community. She was an active member of the Centerville Fire Department Auxiliary and the Eastern Star. Her spirit of volunteerism shone brightly as she dedicated her time to the Saugerties Well. She found joy in the simple acts of giving and caring for those around her. Doris was also a faithful member of the Saugerties Atonement Lutheran Church.
Her Funeral Service was held on Saturday, March 29 at the Atonement Lutheran Church. Burial followed in the Chestnut Hill Cemetery.
