Diane Y. Lucchesi, 82, of Port St. Lucie, FL, formerly of New Paltz, died peacefully at her home with her family on Monday, February 17, 2025.
Diane, affectionately known to her family as Dee Dee, Momma Looch, Crazy Big Di and Grammy was born in Brooklyn on January 25, 1943. She was the daughter of the late Joseph & Antoinette Corda Yumet.Â
Diane grew up in Brooklyn and moved to New Paltz in 1971 to raise her family. She worked in the Student Accounts office at SUNY New Paltz for 30 years. Diane loved to cook and host family and friends whenever possible. Her home and heart were always open. She loved to travel and especially enjoyed cruises. She took up golf in retirement and was member of the New Paltz Women’s Golf League. However, her favorite pastime was being with her grandchildren wherever and whenever possible. She always wanted them to know Grammy was there. Diane moved to Port St. Lucie in 2018 where she was active in her community.Â
Diane is survived by her partner of 34 years Raymond Morris as well as two children, Robert Lucchesi and his wife Allison of New Paltz and Michele Rennie and her husband Mark of Brockport, NY, two stepchildren, Patrick Morris and his wife, Patricia of Vero Beach, FL and Beth Belmore and her husband Chip of Stone Ridge, 10 grandchildren, Kendall, Becca, Paige, Michael, Matthew, Mark David, Anthony, Ryan, Connor, and Chani, 3 great grandchildren, Elodie, Jade, Sofia, a cousin, Edward Dunn and his wife Dale and three nieces, Susan, Nicole, and Eileen and her nephew Michael.
In addition to her parents, Diane was predeceased by her husband, Robert E. Lucchesi, a brother, Joseph Yumet, sister and brother-in-law, Marie and Aldo Romanelli, a niece, Deborah Ann Sutton and nephews, Charles, William and Joseph Yumet.
The family will receive friends at the Copeland-Hammerl Funeral Home, 162 South Putt Corners Rd on Friday, March 7, 2025 from 3-7 PM.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, March 8, 2025 at 11:00 AM at St. Joseph’s Church.Â
Interment will follow in St. Charles Cemetery, Gardiner.
