Barbara Marie (Genthner) Haas, 87, formerly of Palmyra, Virginia, died on Monday, December 30, 2024, in Charlottesville at Rosewood Village Greenbrier Assisted Living.
She was born in Saugerties, New York, a daughter of the late, Glenford William Genthner, Sr. and Anna Marie (Knor) Genthner.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 27 years, Richard Raymond Haas and a brother, Glenford W. Genthner, Jr.
Barbara attended school in Saugerties, NY. Her family owner and worked at the Corner Bakery until its closing in 1973. Working from Albany Savings Bank from 1973 – 1997. She was a founding member of Grace and Glory Lutheran Church in Palmyra. Barbara was an avid quilter and gardener and enjoyed traveling.
The family will receive friends from 6-7pm on Thursday, January 9, 2025, at Thacker Brothers (138 Heritage Dr. Lake Monticello, VA) Funeral Home.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 10, 2025, at Grace and Glory Lutheran Church (683 Thomas Jefferson Parkway, RT 53, Palmyra, VA) by the Rev William Strong.
A graveside service will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Culpeper National Cemetery.
