A tragic accident in the town of Wawarsing on Tuesday, Sep. 30 left one person dead after their car burst into flames following a head-on collision, state police said.
Elsa M. Booth, 36, of Ellenville, was pronounced dead at the scene after emergency responders extricated her from the burning vehicle and performed life-saving measures.
The crash occurred at around 7:46 a.m. on Rt. 209. A preliminary police investigation stated Booth’s 2021 Hyundai was traveling north when it failed to keep right and hit a 2004 Gulf Stream Conquest motorhome.
The motorhome driver, identified as Diane R. Delehanty, 68, of Livingston, Texas, was also extricated and taken to Garnet Health Medical Center with injuries that were not life-threatening.
Police said they will continue their investigation.
