Amid a recent surge of violence in midtown Kingston, an 18-year-old male was seriously injured in a stabbing that occurred on Liberty Street on Saturday, Sep. 13. The event occurred around 6:00 p.m. between Broadway and Prospect Street, prompting a response from the City of Kingston Police Department.
Emergency responders found the victim with a deep stab wound to his thigh. He received initial treatment at the scene before being transported to HealthAlliance Emergency Room by the Kingston Fire Department Ambulance. He was later released from the ER.
The area in and around the north tip of Broadway has seen a spike in police activity and violent crime in recent weeks, including scuffles with police, shots fired, and another knife attack.
Authorities believe the most recent attack involved two suspects who may have been acquainted with the victim. While a clear motive has not yet been determined, investigators do not consider the attack to be random, and there is no indication that a domestic relationship played a role in the incident.
The Town of Ulster Police Department is assisting in the ongoing investigation. Authorities are urging anyone with information to contact the Kingston Police Department at (845) 331-8404 or reach out to Detective Adam Hotaling at ahotaling@kingston-ny.gov
The investigation remains active.
