Poll: How should New Paltz’s next bridge look?

In New Paltz, plans for the Carmine Liberta Bridge replacement are underway. County officials and local committee members are meeting to hash out what the new bridge will look like before construction begins in 2016.

On their plate right now are a number of design decisions. Two big decisions are the bridge’s look and whether or not it will be painted. We’d like to give our readers an opportunity to let Ulster County officials know what they want.

For the purposes of the second poll, keep in mind that the sea-foam green color is merely a placeholder. Potentially, a bridge could be painted any color allowed under federal bridge color standards — which includes hundreds of options.

Cost would be a downside to painting the bridge, though. Both weathered and galvanized steel would be cheaper to maintain.
