The Elting Memorial Library in New Paltz recently sponsored its fourth annual teen photo contest. Local students from the ages of 13 through 17 submitted 32 entries into the categories of portrait, landscape and other. The contest required that all photographs were to be made in New Paltz. The judges were G. Steve Jordan and Lauren Thomas.
“I’ve judged the teen photo contest every year, and every year we face the same dilemma — how do we choose from among a truly exceptional selection of images?” said Jordan. “Every year I am impressed with the caliber of the photos submitted. I remind each of the photographers that if the photograph you’ve submitted expresses your original intent, then you are a winner.”
In the end, “Imagination Takes Flight” by Zoey Calison took the prize in the other category, “Deranged” by Sophia Romano-Clinton took the prize in the landscape category and “We are Becoming Who We Were Meant to Be” by Iszy Szemcsak took the award for best portrait.
