In an age of omnipresent surveillance cameras in the city of Kingston, avoiding justice is not easy — especially if the crime involves structural damage to a beloved local business.
Kingston police arrested David A. Naccarato, 31, of Ulster Park, alleging he is responsible for the recent destruction of Rough Draft’s outdoor dining area.
Police said that at 4:45am on April 24, Naccarato struck the “parklet” in front of Rough Draft with his 2013 Chevy pickup, then fled the scene without reporting the accident.
He was charged with leaving the scene of a property damage accident without reporting it (a violation), and 4th degree criminal mischief, recklessly damaging proerty (a misdemeanor). After being processed, he was released and is expected to return to court on May 13.
Police said they were able to locate the vehicle after an investigation which also included Naccarato admitting to causing damage with his vehicle. Police did not say whether the crash was accidental or intentional.
