Elaine Margaret (Lacy) Sergeant, 94, passed away on January 28,2025.
She was predeceased by her cherished husband of over 50 years Henry (Hank), daughter Claire Sergeant, granddaughter Tirzah Morin and son-in-law Robert Feld.
She is survived by daughters Anne (Wayne), Nancy, and Kathleen Feld; grandchildren Emily (Jer), Arielle, Asher (Heather), great grandson Finn, and Nikki, who held a special place in Elaine’s heart for her kindness and compassion. Elaine is also survived by extended family, friends and former students upon whom she had a great impact.
Elaine was a beloved educator. She began her career in teaching at St Joseph’s School then continued in the New Paltz School District. Her ability to nurture, motivate and foster confidence in her students was unmatched. Her passion and dedication to teaching was inspiring.
She was an active and devoted parishioner of St Joseph’s Church and spent 30 years volunteering with the Religious Education program. She also volunteered at Benedictine Hospital. She loved to travel, play cards, golf, hike and she enjoyed the beauty of the area in which she lived.
She will be greatly missed, and her influence has forever touched all who knew her. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or a charity of your choice.
