Just days after a driver hit and killed a Kingston pedestrian on Broadway, another Kingston pedestrian has been struck and injured — a 7-year-old. The incident occurred today, Jan. 8, at approximately 8:50am, in the vicinity of Stewart’s Shops at 1 Boulevard Ct.
Though the child’s injuries “are not believed to be serious,” according to Lieutenant Patrick Buono, this marks the latest in a troubling trend of traffic injuries and fatalities in the city of Kingston.
City police said “sun glare” may have caused Kingston resident Nicholas Visbeck, 33, to strike the child as they walked in a pedestrian crosswalk near Stewart’s with their mother. The driver was ticketed for failure to yield his 2011 Chevrolet Silverado to a pedestrian in a crosswalk, and the investigation is ongoing.
The child was transported to HealthAlliance Hospital by the Kingston Fire Department.
