Frida’s Bakery and Café opened in 2014 in Milton, dishing up funky grilled cheeses, carefully crafted soups, paninis, burgers and other breakfast and lunch options.
“After much reflection and with a heavy heart,” read a Frida’s Facebook post on Tue, Dec. 10, “we have made the difficult decision to close Frida’s. This journey has been an incredible one, and we are deeply grateful for the trust, loyalty, and support you have shown us over the years.”
The post indicated they would close for good the following day, Dec. 11.
Like most restaurants, Frida’s was financially ambushed by the Covid pandemic. They announced at the beginning of 2022 they would be closing temporarily, but after later reopening, were unable to stay afloat in the tumultuous waters of the restaurant industry.
Comments poured in from customers sad to see the eatery go.
“My grandchildren had many wonderful experiences in that play area upstairs and great food. Glad I have the memories,” wrote Faye Darlene Granata.
“We are heartbroken to hear this news,” wrote Briana Sabia. “My husband and I had our engagement party there, and we have had a countless number of amazing meals there through the years. Our two sons loved eating upstairs so they could play with the dinosaurs in the toy room. We will miss Frida’s deeply and the welcoming environment we always felt.”
Many expressed their optimism that the restaurant space would soon be reimagined by a new business owner, as has often been the case in the hot Hudson Valley commercial market.
