On Wednesday, Town of Ulster police filed six felony rape charges against 32-year-old Tito E. Nunez-Hernandez of Lake Katrine, alleging he “engaged in sexual conduct with a 15-year-old female.”
Police received a report of the allegations on Thursday, November 7, and subsequently arrested Nunez-Hernandez at his home. Following arraignment, he was sent to Ulster County Jail in lieu of $20,000 cash bail or a $40,000 bond.
Nunez-Hernandez was charged under the Rape is Rape Act, a new state law effective September 1, which broadens the legal definition of rape to include all forms of non-consensual sexual intercourse, providing broader protections for victims.
The Ulster County District Attorney’s Office and Kingston Police Department assisted in the investigation.
