At roughly 10:50am, Kingston City School District (KCSD) officials issued a notification to parents that schools would be dismissing students early today due to “predicted weather conditions”. Middle and high schools will dismiss at 12:30pm, and elementary schools (including George Washington Pre-K) will dismiss at 1:30pm.
Other area schools that are dismissing early include Onteora, Marlboro Central School, Saugerties Central School, Rondout Valley Central School, Ellenville Central and Wallkill Central School.
The experts at Hudson Valley Weather noted there was the possibility for dangerous travel conditions to develop this afternoon, thanks to predicted precipitation (both rain and snow) and dropping temperatures. The National Weather Service said “excessive runoff from heavy rainfall and snow melt may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams and other low-lying and flood-prone locations”.
