Schatzi’s Pub and Bier Garden in New Paltz will be closing its doors permanently after eight years this Sunday, December 31. Schatzi’s at 202 Main Street in Poughkeepsie will remain open.

“New Paltz being my home town has and will always hold a special place in my heart,” said owner Jeremy Phillips in a Facebook post. “I love this town and the people of this town. We’ve had eight great years here and while we’d love another eight, it simply wasn’t written in the cards.”

According to Phillips, many factors contributed to this decision including the pandemic, inflation and the manpower shortage that has hit the hospitality industry.

“Instead of focusing on the negative, we’re here this week and would love to share a meal or a beer and reminisce of all the good times,” said Phillips. “Our Poughkeepsie location will remain open so if you’ve loved Schatzi’s New Paltz, hopefully you’ll visit us there. Thank you for the last eight years.”
