Lucille G. DeGraff

Lucille G. (Lucy) DeGraff, 85, of Lake City Florida passed away at home on July 9th, 2023. Lucille was predeceased by her husband, Vernon DeGraff (1980) and her grandson Kevin (1995).

She was born in Cementon, NY. She graduated from Kingston High School and went on to complete secretarial training through Mildred Elley in Albany. She also took courses at both Ulster County Community College and Ocean County College-NJ.

She worked at IBM upon graduation until she got married. Upon returning to work after her children were in school full time, she worked at Woodstock Elementary school from 1969 to 1973. Lucy was a legal secretary in the Myers Legal Office. She worked there for 5 years. Lucy then worked at JF Marr Company as a Billing Clerk until it closed in 1977. She then started working at Rotron. Lucy started on the production floor, then as a Quality Control Secretary. She continued as a Customer Service Representative until she was laid off in 1992. Lucy relocated to NJ obtaining employment in an insurance agency until she retired in 2002.

Lucille is survived by her children; Gary DeGraff (Joanne), Duane DeGraff (Patricia), Cheryl Shankle (William) and Vicki Emry (Richard). She is also survived by her grandchildren; Jodi Pandullo (Joe), Jennifer Fernandes (Chris), Kyle Shankle, Joseph McGowen (Carolina), Carolyn (Matt Pye), Kari Shankle and Reanne DeGraff and 4 great grandchildren.

She was active while living in NY. Lucy was involved with Overlook United Methodist Church, working on the Pastor-Parish Committee, participating in the church’s bowling league, Lydia prayer group, camping group, youth group and more. She supported her children’s activities at school, sports etc. While living in NJ with her daughter and family, Lucy was again involved in the community through her grandchildren in their schooling, sports, and other activities. She moved one last time to Lake City Florida in 2019, keeping busy sending cards and care boxes to her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Graveside service will be held September 8th at 12 noon at the Woodstock Cemetery where she will be laid to rest next to her beloved Vernon (Bud). Local arrangements are under the supervision on the Seamon-Wilsey Funeral Home Inc., corner of John and Lafayette Sts., Saugerties.
